It is a cherished tradition with Märklin. Every year, a special wagon is featured for Christmas. So, this is also the case this year. Here comes the Märklin Christmas wagon 2018. It is the two-axle, open high-side wagon of the replacement construction type Om 21 (earlier Om Königsberg) with brakeman's cab and brakeman's platform. You surely wonder what the Om 21 construction type (earlier Om Königsberg) is all about. After the regional railways were put under the authority of the German Reich in 1920, the administration of the German Imperial Railways merged all freight wagon types with the same or similar possible uses into "Groupings" as from 1921. Those were given the names of German cities. In the railway field the term "Grouping" is used for designating a group of vehicles that have common characteristics. However, let's go back to the Christmas wagon 2018 (item no. 48418). It has a cargo insert featuring presents and has a wonderful Christmas printing. A real "eye-catcher"!
